The 12807 types of Chinese medicines can be divided into 21 categories according to their effects: antiepidemics, purgatives, laxatives, dampness removers, wind-dampness removers, water-inducing and dampness-permeating (promoting the flow of water to dispel dampness), orifice-opening removers, warming removers, food-eliminating removers, qi-movers, insect-repelling removers, blood-vitalizing and blood-stasis-eliminating (promoting the flow of blood to eliminate stagnant blood in the body), and liver-regulating and wind-extinguishing (regulating the liver’s function to dispel internal wind) removers.
