What’s wrong with your baby’s white stool?

Stool is a barometer of your baby’s health and can be judged by the state and duration of your baby’s stool. The normal color of stool is related to the different stages of the baby’s age or different dietary structure. It is often found that the baby has yellow stool and various shades of green stool, but if the baby’s stool is white, it needs to be taken seriously. The formation process of feces is very complex and requires the participation of several organs such as the stomach, liver, bile, pancreas, small intestine and large intestine. Food is chewed by the mouth, reaches the stomach through the esophagus and then enters the duodenum through the digestion of the stomach, where bile and pancreatic juice are added to the process. The mucousy residue remaining after the food is digested and absorbed passes from the small intestine into the large intestine and rectum and is expelled from the body. Because of the involvement of bile, most normal stools are of varying shades of yellow. If a baby has white stools with jaundice since shortly after birth, be alert to the presence of a viral infection such as cytomegalovirus infection, or various biliary atresia in the child, which requires active treatment. Previously the baby had normal stools and occasionally a few white stools, it may be due to indigestion, or eating too much milk or too little sugar, the fatty acids produced combine with the minerals calcium and magnesium in the food to form fatty soap, the stool can also appear grayish white, hard and with a foul smell, after adjusting the diet the stool color is normal. In summary, the normal color of the baby’s stool should be yellow or brown as the base color, and occasional deviations in color due to food are normal. Occasional deviations in color due to food are normal, but white stools may be a more serious disease that requires prompt consultation with a doctor.
