Does a fractured bone hurt when you press it?

Bone fractures exist that are painful when pressed. In the case of a bone fracture, pressure on the area of the fracture is associated with significant pain, and this pain is more intense. A bone fracture is usually a non-displaced fracture that occurs after an external impact or severe compression, and is a milder type of fracture. When a bone fracture occurs, there is some damage to the surrounding soft tissue and inflammatory edema develops. The metabolic products of the inflammatory edema will stimulate the surrounding peripheral nerves, resulting in a distinct pinprick-like pain sensation and significant local swelling that may be accompanied by bruising. When compression is performed, these areas of injury and inflammatory edema are stimulated and transmitted to the brain through the peripheral nerves, resulting in a painful sensation. When localized pins and needles pain occurs with swelling or bruising when pressing on the bone, it is recommended to visit an orthopedic clinic for an X-ray examination to clarify the diagnosis and treatment.
