“Viagra is not a “banned substance”

In the clinic encountered some sexual dysfunction, especially erectile dysfunction patients, when the condition requires them to prescribe some “Viagra” type drugs to improve erectile dysfunction, many patients have a relatively large resistance, think that eating Viagra will be addictive, dependence, or contain large doses of hormones to eat the body is not good, side effects, etc. The side effects are great, and so on. Here I would like to make a popular introduction to Viagra drugs —– “Viagra” is not a “forbidden drug”. ”Viagra” refers to sildenafil (Viagra), and its similar drugs are tadalafil (Cialis) and vardenafil (Elidel). They all belong to phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors. The mechanism of action is to inhibit the activity of PDE5 in the penile corpus cavernosum, reduce the degradation of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), cause its accumulation in the smooth muscle cells of the penile corpus cavernosum, improve the diastolic function of the smooth muscle cells, and increase the perfusion of blood in the corpus cavernosum, thus improving erectile function. Rather than an immediate erection that lasts after use, these drugs require adequate sexual stimulation and complete nerve impulse transmission to work. Clinical studies in recent years have confirmed that PDE5 inhibitors have shown relatively reliable efficacy and a good safety profile in the treatment of erectile dysfunction, and are therefore the first-line drugs recommended by major guidelines for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. Addiction and dependence: PDE5 inhibitors do not produce addiction and dependence, and some patients with erectile dysfunction have been reported to be able to maintain normal erectile function after long-term oral use without further oral use. High dose of hormones: PDE5 inhibitors do not contain hormones, while for some older men, the decline in physiological function leads to androgen deficiency thus causing erectile dysfunction (clinically known as delayed hypogonadism). The use of PDE5 inhibitors with the right amount of hormone supplementation will be better for the improvement of erectile dysfunction. The adverse effects of PDE5 inhibitors are mainly due to the presence of PDE5 in the nasal blood vessels and central nervous system, so nasal congestion, facial flushing, headache and other adverse effects are common, and may cause blue or green vision. In general, however, the incidence of adverse reactions with PDE5 inhibitors is low and mostly tolerable. In addition, PDE5 inhibitors have been reported to treat pulmonary hypertension, angina pectoris, improve endometrium, and to some extent premature ejaculation. In conclusion, if you are always or temporarily suffering from erectile dysfunction, taking oral Viagra drugs under the guidance of your doctor can improve your erectile function more significantly and make you a sexually happy man. The only regret is that PDE5 inhibitors are currently expensive, with the average price of a pill at around $100, so it is a big financial burden for patients who need to take them orally for a long time.
