Papillary thyroid carcinoma is better differentiated and less malignant, only some eligible papillary thyroid carcinomas can undergo lobectomy (semiectomy) of the thyroid gland, while the rest should undergo total thyroidectomy. Patients with papillary thyroid cancer can only undergo lobectomy of the thyroid gland if all of the following conditions are simultaneously met: no history of radiation to the neck, no extra-thyroidal invasion of the tumor, no distant metastasis of the tumor, no combination of other adverse pathological types, and a tumor diameter of <1 cm. All papillary thyroid carcinomas other than these require total or subtotal thyroidectomy. Although the malignant degree of papillary thyroid cancer is relatively low, but it often appears lymph node metastasis in the neck at an early stage, so early treatment is of great significance, and it is recommended that patients should actively receive surgical treatment once diagnosed, so as to avoid delaying the condition.
