What is choledochal stone drainage?

Choledochal stone drainage is an important surgical treatment for bile duct stones. During bile duct stone surgery, sometimes it is necessary to carry out biliary exploration, that is, during surgery, the bile duct is cut open, and through the choledochoscope, the bile duct stones, inflammation, tumors are projected on the screen for visual observation. Currently, biliary exploration is often performed under laparoscopy, and a T-tube is often left in place after surgery to facilitate bile drainage and reduce the risk of postoperative biliary fistulae, biliary tract infections and other diseases. In the case of simple extrahepatic bile duct stones, choledochotomy and T-tube drainage is preferred, and laparoscopic or open surgery can be chosen to remove as many stones as possible during the operation and relieve obstruction, and T-tube can be left in place after the operation to keep the bile drainage smooth.
