Cost of carotid endarterectomy

Carotid artery stenosis is a common disease in current society, with a high incidence, commonly seen in the middle-aged and elderly population. What exactly is carotid stenosis? In fact, the vast majority of carotid stenosis is caused by atherosclerosis, which means that atherosclerosis is the most common cause of carotid stenosis. Some poor dietary habits can lead to thick blood, and the accumulation of lipid substances in the blood vessel wall, and the continuous accumulation will lead to the formation of atherosclerotic plaques, which will gradually increase in size and cause the gradual narrowing of the carotid artery lumen. Therefore, carotid endarterectomy has become a standard procedure for the treatment of carotid artery stenosis, i.e., the carotid artery wall is cut open, the carotid artery intima and the plaque attached to it are peeled off, and the carotid artery wall is restored to smoothness and the lumen to normal size. Such a procedure is very thorough in treating carotid artery stenosis, and it allows the carotid artery lumen to be completely restored to its pre-disease level without any obstruction to blood flow, thus preventing cerebral infarction to the greatest extent possible. Moreover, after this surgery is done, there is no need for long-term drug maintenance after recovery, except for perioperative drug care. So such a procedure is still very advantageous. What is the cost of this procedure, carotid endarterectomy? In fact, we do not spend a lot of money for this procedure. We perform this carotid endarterectomy under a microscope to ensure the safety of the procedure. A 7-8 cm incision is made in the neck, the carotid artery is incised, the diseased intima is peeled off and removed, and the carotid artery wall is smooth and the internal diameter is restored to its normal size. The patient can return to normal life in 1-2 days after surgery with few complications.
