Infants with cold and stuffy nose usually heal themselves in a few days

The self-healing time of nasal congestion in infants depends on the severity of the condition and cannot be generalized. Infant cold and nasal congestion is mostly caused by bacterial infection, and if there are no other symptoms, it can usually heal on its own, usually for about 3-5 days, but for infants with poor resistance or heavy conditions, the time may be extended to about 10 days. If an infant has symptoms such as high fever and poor mental status in addition to nasal congestion, it may also be caused by the influenza virus. Because of the strong virulence of the influenza virus, the disease progresses quickly and the course of the disease is long, and the symptoms of nasal congestion may not heal by themselves. If a child with nasal congestion has a lot of nasal secretions, parents can use a cotton stick dipped in light saline to help the child clear the nasal secretions, and keep the home environment as warm and moist as possible to give the infant adequate rest and strengthen resistance.
