Premature beats are premature heartbeats. The normal pacing point is the sinus node, and the heart rate is 60-100 beats per minute. Premature beats can be uncomfortable or asymptomatic, sometimes just a sensation of heartbeat or cardiac arrest. Too many premature beats can lead to uncomfortable sensations, including panic, palpitations or cardiac arrest, and in severe cases can lead to ventricular tachycardia and sudden cardiac death.
