What’s wrong with low salivary acid?

Low salivary acid may be related to environmental factors, medication factors, personal factors and so on.
1. Environmental factors: If you live and work in an alkaline environment for a long time, i.e. PH>7, along with the effect of breathing, alkaline substances may neutralize the acidic environment in the mouth, and the acidity in the mouth decreases, which may lead to low salivary acid.
2. Drug factors: If you take some drugs will change the acid-base balance of the mouth, the oral salivary acid is low or salivary alkaline is low.
3. Individual factors: Due to the different physique of each person, a few people may have congenital low oral salivary acid.
Clinically, salivary acid is used to monitor malignant tumors. If salivary acid is low, it does not have any clinical significance, it is not a disease and will not affect the body, so there is no need to worry about it too much; if salivary acid is high, it has an important significance for the diagnosis of malignant tumors, which is usually related to the occurrence of malignant tumors, metastasis of tumors, recurrence, and the effect of treatment.
There are also some inflammatory diseases, such as rheumatic immune system diseases, may also appear high salivary acid.
