Edema in pregnant women is considered in several conditions: 1. physiological edema, most pregnant women with the increase of pregnancy week, the uterus on the blood vessels, inferior vena cava compression, will lead to double lower limbs edema, this edema is generally physiological, through night rest and elevation of the lower limbs to increase blood return, will be relieved; 2. pathological conditions, such as the common hypertensive disease of pregnancy. This disease is mainly caused by endothelial damage of blood vessels due to spasm of small blood vessels throughout the body, resulting in protein leakage from the blood to the tissue interstices, causing edema or proteinuria. This condition of edema should be taken seriously because it may involve several tissues and organs. In severe cases, it can lead to intrauterine growth restriction of the fetus, followed by the occurrence of hydrocele in the chest and abdominal cavity and pericardial effusion in pregnant women, and also cause placental abruption and intrauterine fetal death. Therefore, we must pay attention to the edema caused by hypertensive disease during pregnancy, and if necessary, we need to be hospitalized and terminate the pregnancy at the right time; 3. Pay attention to the exclusion of edema caused by heart disease or kidney disease.
