After conservative treatment of ectopic pregnancy, the adnexal masses can be eliminated in about 1-3 months. The lower the blood HCG level, the slower the rise and the smaller the size of the adnexal masses, the faster they will be eliminated. After conservative treatment of ectopic pregnancy with herbs, mifepristone and methotrexate, the blood HCG can slowly decrease to a safe range, but the elimination of the adnexal mass is slower than the decrease of the blood HCG, and often after the blood HCG decreases to the normal non-pregnant level and menstruation resumes, the presence of the adnexal ectopic pregnancy lesion can still be seen in the gynecological ultrasound. The decrease of blood HCG level represents the continuous apoptosis of embryonic active trophoblast cells in the ectopic pregnancy lesion. When the blood HCG decreases to normal non-pregnant level, all active trophoblast cells have died, indicating that the risk of ectopic pregnancy has been lifted with conservative drug treatment, and only regular follow-up gynecological ultrasound is required. It is recommended to closely observe the regression of the adnexal mass by monitoring gynecological ultrasound, and to combine with Chinese herbal medicine to activate blood circulation and remove blood stasis to promote the absorption of the ectopic pregnancy mass.
