What is osteopontin

Osteotriol is a commonly used drug for kidney disease and is widely used for the prevention and treatment of renal bone disease in uremic patients. Osteotriol can promote intestinal calcium absorption, transfer calcium and phosphorus from the blood into the circulation, promote calcium and phosphorus absorption in the proximal tubules of the kidney, and increase blood calcium and phosphorus concentrations. It is commonly used clinically in rickets, such as vitamin D-dependent rickets and hypophosphatemic anti-vitamin D rickets. It can also be used in patients with uremia, especially those on maintenance hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis, osteoporosis due to secondary hyperparathyroidism, renal osteodystrophy, and renal bone diseases such as osteochondrosis, with better long-term use. However, it is necessary to pay attention to the concentration of blood calcium and blood phosphorus when using osteopontinol. If the concentration of both is high, it is important to consider discontinuing the drug to prevent various complications such as myocardial infarction due to vascular calcification.
