Concerned about men’s health, how to scientifically and reasonably reduce stress

A large number of social surveys and medical statistics at home and abroad show that more and more diseases are seriously threatening the physical and mental health of men, and the average life expectancy of men worldwide is 2-3 years less than that of women. Since 2000, the government of China has set October 28 every year as “Men’s Health Day”, advocating for more publicity on men’s health around the world, advocating for families and society to care more for men and pay more attention to health. In the past, more attention was paid to men’s physical health, but now we advocate the concept of a big health, that is, physical health, mental health and social resilience. The Third International Congress on Mental Health defines mental health as the development of an individual’s state of mind to the best of his or her ability, to the extent that it is not physically, intellectually, and emotionally incompatible with the mental health of others. The specific signs are: great physical, intellectual and emotional harmony; adaptation to the environment and good interpersonal relationships; a sense of well-being; and the ability to give full play to one’s abilities and sense of efficiency in life and work. Society is made up of many individuals, and the mental health of individuals will directly affect the harmony of relationships between people, between people and society, and between people and nature. The National Health and Family Planning Commission has set the theme of this year’s “Men’s Health Day” as “Concern for Men’s Health, Scientific and Reasonable Stress Reduction”, emphasizing that health and family planning departments at all levels stand in the “general health” perspective, paying more attention to men’s mental health. The health and family planning departments at all levels should pay more attention to men’s mental health from the perspective of “general health”, fully mobilize and utilize resources from all aspects, innovate ways and means and carriers, organically combine health promotion and service consultation, especially with the “Health China Walk – National Health Literacy Promotion Activities” being carried out around the country. “Closely integrated with the ongoing “Health China Walk – National Health Literacy Promotion Activities”, widely disseminate mental health knowledge, advocate scientific and reasonable ways to reduce stress, improve the health literacy and health level of the masses, and promote family development and social harmony and stability. In recent years, relevant units and medical institutions have started to engage in psychological crisis intervention and stress management, and have achieved good results. Deputy Director of China Population Mission Center, Mr. Lun Xiowei, introduced the exploration and practice of China Population Mission Center in caring for men’s health, trying to expand social communication and building a communication platform for family and health. Keynote speeches were given on psychological crisis intervention for men, stress management and emotion regulation, psychological counseling and treatment of substance addiction, depression and mental disorders. The experts called on everyone to fully understand the importance of mental health, to start from themselves, to learn scientific and healthy ways to relieve stress, to effectively maintain their own mental health, and to use a healthy and sunny mind to influence the small environment around them to form a more harmonious social environment. The guests also answered questions from the press.
