How to prevent and treat hand, foot and mouth disease

  HFMD is an infectious disease caused by enteroviruses, and there are more than 20 types of enteroviruses that cause HFMD, among which coxsackievirus A16 (Cox A16) and enterovirus 71 (EV
71) are the most common. Most children under the age of 5 years old present with mouth pain, anorexia, low fever, small herpes or ulcers on the hands, feet and mouth, etc. Most children heal spontaneously within a week or so, but a few children may have complications such as myocarditis, pulmonary edema and aseptic meningoencephalitis. Individual children with severe disease develop rapidly, leading to death. At present, the lack of effective treatment drugs mainly symptomatic treatment.  Clinical manifestations: 1. Acute onset, fever, scattered herpes on the oral mucosa, maculopapular rash and herpes on the hands, feet and buttocks, there may be an inflammatory redness around the herpes, and less fluid in the herpes.  2. It may be accompanied by cough, runny nose, loss of appetite and other symptoms.  Early identification of severe cases 1. Persistent high fever that does not subside.  2.Poor spirit, vomiting, easy to be frightened, shaking limbs, weakness.  3. Increased respiration and heart rate.  4.Cold sweating, poor peripheral circulation.  5.High blood pressure.  6.Significant increase in peripheral blood white blood cell count.  7. Hyperglycemia.  Prevention and control: Pay attention to isolation and avoid cross-infection. Proper rest, light diet, good oral and skin care.
