What does hepatitis B core antibody mean?

Hepatitis B core antibodies are antibodies against the core antigen of the hepatitis B virus and can be categorized into IgM, IgG and IgA types. If the hepatitis B core antibody is positive, it means that the patient is infected with the hepatitis B virus or has been infected with the hepatitis B virus. Hepatitis B virus is spherical in shape and consists of an envelope and a nucleocapsid, which is the center of replication of the hepatitis B virus genome. In response to the biology of the hepatitis B virus and the body’s immune response, clinicians have developed a five-part hepatitis B test to detect infection, of which the hepatitis B core antibody is one. Hepatitis B core antibody is one of the five tests that clinicians have developed to detect viral infection. When a patient needs to be tested for hepatitis B infection, serologic and histologic tests are required, and hepatitis B core antibody is one of the indicators of viral infection. When a patient needs to be tested, he or she needs to go to the hospital and be evaluated by the doctor in conjunction with the relevant tests.
