A small bump under the eyelid may be caused by a blepharocyst, blepharitis, or ocular calculus.
1. Blepharophalangeal cyst: Blepharophalangeal cyst is a sterile chronic granulomatous inflammation, also known as chalazion, which may be caused by blockage of the outlet of the blepharophalangeal glands causing glandular secretions to be retained in the lids. The patient may develop a roundish, well-defined cyst under the eyelid, which is usually painless.
2. Blepharitis: Blepharitis is an acute suppurative inflammation, also known as granuloma, mainly caused by bacterial infection of sebaceous glands or blepharoplasty glands, the main symptoms are local redness, swelling, heat and pain, and may appear as a small lump under the eyelid.
3. Eye stones: If the eye stones protrude from the surface of the conjunctiva, they can appear similar to the form of small bumps, and there will be tingling, fear of light, foreign body sensation and other symptoms.
