About Glaucoma

Glaucoma includes both closed-angle and open-angle types. The early symptoms of closed-angle type include regular eye fatigue and discomfort, swelling and pain at the arch of the eyebrows and the eyeballs, soreness at the root of the nose, headache on one side, occasional nausea and vomiting, and rainbow vision (red and green rainbow circles around fluorescent lights at night), etc. Patients with open-angle type may not feel any abnormalities in the early stage. Glaucoma treatment methods Glaucoma treatment methods include medication, laser treatment and surgery, and the treatment methods vary for different kinds and types of glaucoma. Primary open-angle glaucoma is often preferred to be treated with eye drops to lower eye pressure, and laser or surgery if control is not ideal; primary closed-angle glaucoma may be treated with laser therapy early on, supplemented by medication; or surgery if the condition requires it. Early cataract surgery is likely to solve some of the hidden glaucoma problems of closed-angle type. 2, why glaucoma glaucoma is a group of diseases with pathologically high intraocular pressure, characteristic optic nerve and visual field damage. The high intraocular pressure depends on the condition of the atrial circulation in the eye. Glaucoma can result from increased resistance to atrial outflow, or from abnormalities in the atrial drainage system (open-angle glaucoma), or from obstruction of the atrial drainage system by the peripheral iris (closed-angle glaucoma). Treatment is based on lowering the intraocular pressure to protect the optic nerve. The former can be treated with surgery and laser, while the latter can be treated with methylcobalamin. Most of the causes of glaucoma are still related to the body, and a few are related to crystal expansion and the use of glucocorticoids. 3.How much does glaucoma surgery cost The situation varies from place to place, and from tertiary hospitals to local hospitals. There are more classifications of glaucoma surgery, with conventional trabeculectomy at the top and bottom of 3,000-10,000 yuan (2016) and ciliary photocoagulation surgery also between 2,000-5,000 yuan (2016). 4. can glaucoma be cured Glaucoma causes optic nerve damage and visual field defects, because optic nerve damage and visual field damage caused by high intraocular pressure are irreversible and cannot be recovered by current treatments. The main goal of glaucoma treatment is to maintain the status quo and slow down the progression of the disease, with vision and visual field remaining as they were before. Primary angle-closure glaucoma is curable in its early stages, with laser treatment to resolve the atrial angle closure, but the vast majority of glaucoma is not curable. Glaucoma is a lifelong disease that, like diabetes and hypertension, requires treatment to control intraocular pressure.
