How long does the anorexia period last?

Temporary anorexia, or physiological anorexia, can occur in infants 4-5 months of age and usually lasts 2-4 weeks before improving naturally. The anorexia period is characterized only by reluctance to eat milk or inattentiveness when eating milk, but normal development, good mental state, and no other symptoms. This phenomenon is mostly due to the baby’s changing tastes and faster visual and auditory development, which makes him/her more interested in the outside world and nosy, resulting in inattentiveness or reduced milk consumption. Parents do not need to worry too much and do not need to force feed their babies. They should make sure that they feed their babies more water and add glucose water in small amounts to ensure energy supply. Although infants with anorexia may eat less, they can still maintain their growth and development and will not affect their intellectual development. However, if the infant has other symptoms, such as rapid weight loss or crying, it is recommended that the infant be seen by a pediatrician.
