Acne marks are generally inflammatory hyperpigmentation left after acne healing; treatment of acne and inflammatory hyperpigmentation is recommended to patients under the guidance of specialists, and can be improved by topical medications, laser therapy, and chemotherapy. 1. Acne: Topical retinoic acid combined with topical antimicrobials (e.g. benzoyl peroxide monotherapy, or benzoyl peroxide ± topical clindamycin) can be used; systemic treatments need to be considered for the more severe ones, e.g. hormonal medications, antibiotics, oral isotretinoin. Red and blue light, intense pulsed light, photodynamic therapy, etc. can be used as adjunctive treatment for acne. 2. Pimple marks: For red pimple marks, topical skin barrier repair medication (growth factor gel) or dye laser can be used. For black acne marks, topical hydroquinone cream, chemical resurfacing, and photoelectric treatment can be used for improvement.
