Chinese dietary therapy for children with recurrent respiratory infections

  Recurrent respiratory tract infection refers to the frequent occurrence of upper and lower respiratory tract infections within 1 year, which is beyond the normal range (more than 7 to 10 times). The clinical manifestations are often recurrent colds, tonsillitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, etc. If the treatment is inappropriate or incomplete, the recurrence of respiratory tract infections can easily induce other diseases and lead to chronic wasting, damaging the immune function of other organs and systems, making the condition increasingly complex and seriously affecting the health and growth of the child. Respiratory diseases are common and highly prevalent in children in winter. According to Chinese medicine, “the righteousness of the qi is stored inside, the evil cannot dry out”, so the key to disease prevention is to improve the righteousness of the qi, appropriate physical exercise, outdoor activities, a balanced diet, pay attention to rest, and keep indoor air circulation are the basic measures to prevent disease in winter. “Under the guidance of traditional Chinese medicine theory, food can be used to regulate the body’s functions to prevent and control diseases.  The following are some TCM recipes that are suitable for children with “relapsing sensation”: (1) Grain bud and corn porridge Ingredients: Grain bud 30 grams, hawthorn 10 grams, malt 30 can, corn 50 grams.  Method: Wash the grain buds, malt and hawthorn, put them in a gauze bag and tie the bag tightly. Put the corn into a pot with the bag, add 1000 ml of water, bring to a boil, then simmer for 20 minutes, remove the bag and continue to simmer over a gentle fire until the corn is crispy. Take in portions.  Suitable for: children with dietary stagnation or poor appetite is particularly suitable.  (2) quail egg soup Ingredients: 1 quail egg, appropriate amount of rice soup.  Method: Add the quail egg into the boiled rice soup and boil it with a high flame. Take it once in the morning and once in the evening.  (3) the inner gold eel soup eel 1, chicken inner gold 10 grams. Eel gills, viscera, clean, cut, and gold into a casserole, add 1000 ml of water and boil for 40 minutes, add salt to taste. Drink the juice and eat fish.  (4) cinnamon meat egg soup Ingredients: cinnamon meat 50 grams, 15 jujubes, 2 fresh eggs, 20 grams of rock sugar.  Method: wash the cinnamon meat, dates, put into a casserole, add 800 ml of water, boil, change the fire to cook until the dates are rotten, punch into the eggs scattered and stirred, continue to cook until the eggs are cooked, add rock sugar that is.  (5) pungent yi boiled eggs Materials: 9 grams of pungent yi flowers, 2 eggs.  Method: First, the whole egg into the boiling water for a few moments, and then add the flowers with Xin Yi cooked for 2 to 3 minutes that is. Eat eggs and soup, salty and sweet at will. Can be consumed continuously for a week.  Applicable: Effective for recurrent upper respiratory tract infections and allergic rhinitis.  (6) Yu Ping soup Ingredients: 30-60 grams of lean pork, 15 grams of astragalus, 15 grams of atractylodes, 5 grams of licorice decoction Method: cut lean pork into small pieces and pop it in a frying pan. Another 15 grams of astragalus, 15 grams of atractylodes, licorice 5 grams of decoction, about 150 ml, add the meat to the soup, when the meat is cooked with a little salt, monosodium glutamate, Sheng up that is ready. Can be eaten as a dish often.  Suitable: especially for those with Qi deficiency.  (7) yellow essence date soup Ingredients: yellow essence 6 grams, red dates 20 grams Method: boil a bowl of soup. Eat soup and dates, one bowl per day, for a period of time.  (8) lily and peanut porridge Ingredients: 20 grams of dried lily; 30 grams of peanuts, 60-80 grams of glutinous rice Method: dried lily soak swollen; peanuts with skin cooked, and then cooked with glutinous rice with water porridge. Do not use iron pot, enamel pot or casserole cooking is better. Eat 1 to 2 small bowls daily, salty and sweet at will. Consecutive consumption for a period of time.  (9) Silver fungus soup Ingredients: 10 grams of silver fungus and 6 grams of dried shiitake mushrooms.  Method: First decoct the dried shiitake mushroom juice and strain the dregs, then simmer the juice until the silver fungus is crispy and sticky, add a little rock sugar. Take it all in one day, and you can eat it often.  Mothers can choose one kind of herbs and one kind of meat each time according to the above recipe. The meat can be made into many stews and soups.
