What’s that whining in your ears like the wind?

Whining like wind in the ears may be caused by cerumen impaction, secretory otitis media or perforation of the eardrum. 1. Cerumen impaction: Excessive secretion of cerumen in the external auditory canal or obstruction of cerumen drainage will cause cerumen to gather in the external auditory canal and form a mass, thus blocking the external auditory canal. The cerumen will press on the tympanic membrane and cause tinnitus and dizziness, which will be manifested as a whimpering sound in the ear like wind. 2. Secretory otitis media: It is a kind of non-purulent inflammatory disease of the middle ear characterized by middle ear effusion and hearing loss. Clinically, it usually manifests itself as hearing loss, mild tinnitus, earache and other symptoms, i.e., a whimpering in the ear like the wind. 3. Perforation of the eardrum: The patient’s ear is perforated due to external impact or inflammation, which leads to perforation of the eardrum. The protective effect of the tympanic membrane on the middle ear will be weakened, thus affecting sound conduction, resulting in hearing loss and buzzing in the ear. When the patient experiences a whining in the ear, it is recommended to go to the hospital and receive professional diagnosis and treatment from a doctor.
