How to prove that acupuncture causes pneumothorax

The normal pleural cavity is formed by the mutual migration of the dirty and wall layers of the pleura, and there is a small amount of fluid but no gas in the normal pleural cavity. If the patient’s general condition is good before acupuncture and chest tightness, chest pain and shortness of breath occur after chest acupuncture, we should consider whether there is a pneumothorax and other conditions, and then chest examination is feasible. If the local breath sounds are diminished and the local percussion is bulging, the possibility of pneumothorax should be thought of, and urgent chest X-ray and chest radiography should be performed. If there is gas in the chest cavity and the lung is compressed, it can be proved that acupuncture has caused pneumothorax, etc. In this case, it is necessary to remove the acupuncture needles, observe closely, and consult with respiratory medicine and thoracic surgery if necessary. A small amount of transient pneumothorax can be absorbed on its own, but if there is a large amount of pneumothorax or if it continues to increase quickly, it may be necessary to place a closed chest drain to expel the gas from the chest cavity.
