If the amount of ascites is too large, it may affect the respiratory function and lead to respiratory difficulties; moreover, the decrease of effective circulating blood volume of these patients may lead to hepatorenal syndrome and the symptom of oliguria and anuria. Due to portal hypertension, patients with advanced stage of liver cancer may lead to esophagogastric fundus varices, which may lead to upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage and symptoms of black stool and vomiting blood. Due to the elevation of blood ammonia, patients with advanced stage of liver cancer may lead to hepatic encephalopathy, which may lead to mental behavioral abnormality and coma and other symptoms.
