How can parents detect a child with congenital heart disease?

Some children breathe faster, have thick breath, purple lips and pale face when they are quiet, especially when they are crying and eating; they often stop to gasp for air after a few mouthfuls of milk; and their appetite is poor; at the same time, they are prone to cold, fever, bronchitis and pneumonia, so their growth and development often lags behind children of the same age. Some children gradually develop cyanosis after birth, parents can see the child’s lips, fingers and toes are purple and the ends of fingers and toes become wider and thicker like drumsticks, we often call them pestle fingers, this is due to long-term hypoxia, capillary increase and venous dilatation. In severe cases, the skin of the whole body may be bruised, which is common in children with severe precordial disease. If parents find that their child is irritable, cyanotic, dyspnea, or even confused after crying, this is a dangerous condition that requires emergency treatment, which is often called hypoxic attack. Some children often like to crouch down and rest after walking a few steps during their gradual growth. When parents notice abnormal performance of their children with other children of the same age, they should go to the hospital to check whether they have congenital heart disease for early treatment. In addition, some children with simple congenital heart disease may be asymptomatic in infancy, but as they grow older, symptoms gradually appear due to the increased burden on the heart. Parents should take their children to the hospital for cardiac checkups to try to cure the disease as early as possible.
