Hepatic encephalopathy includes acute exacerbation and chronic hepatic encephalopathy. Foods high in protein, such as milk and eggs, are forbidden during acute exacerbation, while high-fat and high-calorie foods are contraindicated during chronic hepatic encephalopathy. 1. Acute exacerbation period: Dietary attention should be paid to the fact that foods with high protein content should not be eaten, including milk, eggs, duck eggs, quail eggs, beef, lamb, pork, dog meat, chicken and so on, limiting the intake of protein, and eating a variety of vitamin-rich vegetables and fruits, for example, bananas, kiwi fruit, dragon fruit, carrots and so on. 2. Chronic hepatic encephalopathy: protein intake can be increased, and high-fat and high-calorie foods are forbidden, such as walnuts, hazelnuts, peanuts, beef, chicken skin and fatty meat. Patients with hepatic encephalopathy are advised to consult their physicians for standardized treatment and more dietary knowledge.
