How many days do you usually stay in the hospital after surgery for a grade 5 thyroid?

Surgery for thyroid grade 5 is done with a typical hospital stay of about 5 to 7 days.
Thyroid grade 5 suggests that the grade has been more serious, and clinically suggests an 85% likelihood of malignant tendency, which is treated by surgery for total thyroidectomy or subtotal thyroidectomy, and lymph node dissection is needed when intraoperative frozen pathology is malignant. After surgery, patients are advised that they need to be observed for any associated complications.
If postoperative iodine 131 treatment, chemotherapy, etc. is needed, the patient can be readmitted to the hospital after the wound has healed.
Total thyroidectomy or subtotal thyroidectomy may result in parathyroid damage leading to abnormal calcium and phosphorus metabolism, and the hospitalization time may be relatively longer, but generally not more than 7 days. Some patients may have laryngeal recurrent nerve injury, which can be treated at home with regular outpatient follow-up without hospitalization.
After thyroid surgery, the hospitalization time is usually around 5~7 days.
