Myasthenia gravis for women who are breastfeeding

  1. Mothers with combined MG can breastfeed. By analyzing samples of the mother’s blood and breast milk, it was found that bromipyridamole and steroid hormones have little distribution in the breast milk and can be taken during breastfeeding. If breastfeeding is done after 4 hours of taking the hormone, the effect on the baby will be even less. 2. The total amount of azathioprine entering the infant through the mother is only 1% of the mother’s body, and it is safe to take during breastfeeding and can be recommended for the mother. 3.Cyclosporine A is excreted from breast milk, but current studies have observed no increased nephrotoxicity or other side effects from taking cyclosporine. 4.Cyclophosphamide can enter breast milk and cause immunosuppression and nephrotoxicity to infants, and is not recommended. 5. The use of rituximab during breastfeeding has not been reported. Relevant studies have shown that the total amount of tacrolimus entering the fetus through breast milk is also very small, only 0.05%-0.6% of the maternal concentration, although the safety still needs more studies to confirm, but there is some prospect.
