This is a new classification of venous malformation, consisting of enlarged venous ducts or sinus cavities. The lesion is elevated on the skin or mucosal surface and extends to deeper tissues, visible through the skin as a greenish-blue, irregularly shaped, uneven surface, soft and sponge-like, which shrinks with pressure and returns to its original state immediately after pressure is removed, and temporary relief is achieved by elevating the affected area. The nodular vein stones can be palpated and blood can be extracted by puncture. Spongiform hemangiomatosis increases gradually with age and does not undergo natural regression. Therefore, parents should not adopt a wait-and-see attitude, but should treat it early and aggressively.
