Do scars fade on their own?

Whether scars can fade away on their own depends mainly on the degree of injury and the patient’s physical condition, generally the scars left after minor injuries can fade away on their own. Scar refers to the soft tissue of human skin damaged by physical, biological, chemical and other factors, by the fibrous tissue to replace the repair of the local symptoms left behind. Scars caused by minor injuries that do not reach the dermis, such as minor abrasions and contusions, usually fade slowly on their own and do not even leave any traces. Scars from more serious injuries, such as cuts, severe burns, surgical incisions, etc., usually do not fade completely. If the trauma is not deep, but not disinfected in time, and poor daily care, resulting in repeated infections, can cause excessive proliferation of granulation tissue, prone to develop into hyperplastic scars, which should not fade away. In addition, even if the injury is minor, scarring is likely to induce scar formation and is difficult to fade.
