Babies with colds and fevers may be caused by viral infections, bacterial infections, allergies, etc. They can be treated with medications, which include antipyretic and analgesic drugs, antiviral drugs, antibacterial drugs, anti-nasal congestion and allergy medications, and cough suppressants.
1. Antipyretic and analgesic drugs: Babies with headache, fever, generalized muscle aches and pains can be physically cooled down (e.g., warm baths, antipyretic patches) or medications can be applied to relieve discomfort (e.g., acetaminophen, ibuprofen).
2. Antiviral drugs: Viral infections are self-limiting and generally do not require the use of antiviral drugs. For immunodeficient babies, they can be used routinely at an early stage. Commonly used drugs include oseltamivir phosphate granules, which can effectively suppress the virus and promote recovery.
3. Antibacterial drugs: when there are symptoms of bacterial infection, including elevated white blood cells, yellow pus, coughing up yellow sputum, etc., antibacterial drugs can be used for treatment, and commonly used drugs include amoxicillin and cefuroxime sodium.
4. Anti-nasal congestion and allergy drugs: babies with nasal congestion, nasal mucosal congestion, edema, sore throat and other symptoms, can apply pseudoephedrine hydrochloride and so on. Patients with symptoms such as frequent sneezing, excessive runny nose, etc., can use anti-allergy drugs such as loratadine and phenylephrine hydrochloride tablets as appropriate.
5. Cough suppressants: For babies with more pronounced cough symptoms, consult your doctor for cough suppressants, including dextromethorphan hydrobromide tablets. If accompanied by a large amount of mucus phlegm, can be combined with the use of expectorant drugs, such as aminobromine hydrochloride, ammonium chloride and so on.
The above medicines should be taken according to the doctor’s advice. If the baby feels unwell, he should go to the hospital in time to avoid delaying his condition.
