The difference between abnormal glucose tolerance and insulin resistance lies in the cause, manifestation and other aspects.
1. Abnormal glucose tolerance: it refers to the abnormal regulation of blood glucose, generally fasting blood glucose <7.0mmol/L, 2 hours after meal blood glucose 7.8~11.1mmol/L. It is an intermediate metabolic condition between normal glucose homeostasis and diabetic hyperglycemia, which needs timely control of blood glucose through lifestyle intervention.
2. Insulin resistance: It refers to the target organs of insulin action, such as liver, adipose tissue, etc., the sensitivity to insulin action is reduced, and patients in this situation will have elevated blood glucose. It can be treated by adjusting diet, regular exercise and medication.
If patients have abnormal glucose tolerance or insulin resistance, they should go to regular hospitals in time.
