Can moles be removed?

Moles are the most common benign skin tumors and can be removed in a variety of ways, such as laser treatment and surgical excision. Moles can be divided into junctional nevi, compound nevi and intradermal nevi according to the pathological type, generally junctional nevi are smaller and the other two types of nevi are larger. When the diameter of nevus does not exceed 3mm, the nevus cells can be removed by laser cauterization on the skin surface, after which the skin can achieve the purpose of removing nevus through its own repair function and after the epidermis recovers. We will try to remove it completely at one time to avoid recurrence or malignant changes after multiple treatments. When the diameter of a mole exceeds 3mm, if it is a pigmented mole, because its depth is often deeper, the traces of wound healing caused by laser are larger and unattractive, it is recommended to remove it surgically after local anesthesia, which is a more thorough treatment and has less pain and better recovery after surgery, and the general recovery time is about one week. Whether the mole is treated with laser or surgery, attention should be paid to postoperative care, keeping the wound clean and dry, avoiding contact with water, paying attention to sun protection, and considering topical scar prevention medication at a later stage.
