Can you get pregnant with uterine fibroids?

Whether a patient with fibroids can get pregnant or not depends on the location and size of the fibroids and needs to be analyzed on a case-by-case basis. Generally, according to the relationship between fibroids and the uterine muscle wall, they can be divided into interstitial fibroids, submucosal fibroids and subplasmal fibroids. If fibroids grow in the mucosal layer of the uterus and protrude into the uterine cavity, or if they grow in the myometrium and protrude into the endometrium, thus changing the shape of the uterine cavity, there is no way for a fertilized egg to be laid, which can affect normal pregnancy. If the fibroid grows in the plasma layer of the uterus and grows outside the body of the uterus, it usually does not affect the morphology of the uterine cavity. If the fibroids are too large, although pregnancy is possible, miscarriage and cessation of intrauterine development of the fetus can occur in the early or middle stages of pregnancy and affect the continuation of pregnancy. Another condition is that the fibroids grow between the muscle walls of the uterus and are small, about 1-2 cm, and usually do not affect pregnancy. In the case of fibroids that may affect pregnancy, patients are advised to undergo relevant treatment when preparing for pregnancy and not to blindly conceive on their own. If the fibroid is too large or if it is a submucosal fibroid, surgery is recommended before preparing for pregnancy.
