In general, tendon sheath cysts do not require surgery. In most cases, tendon sheath cysts do not cause significant symptoms. If the cysts are small and do not cause discomfort, you can usually observe them and try to avoid too much sports or housework in the joints of the cysts, so that they do not increase in size. At the same time, hot compresses and local massage can be used, and sometimes the cyst can disappear on its own. If the tendon sheath cyst causes obvious symptoms, such as local nerve and blood vessel compression, or if the cyst is large and progressively enlarges, causing limitation of joint movement, surgical removal is recommended. The cyst wall should be completely removed during surgery, otherwise it will easily cause recurrence of the cyst.
