Microsemination of testicles

Remembering the experience of performing microscopic testicular sperm extraction (M-TESE) – happy for my patients and happy for the results of our efforts. Sperm, what a familiar word, the first thing that comes to mind is having your own offspring, the “ammunition” to produce offspring. For most men, this is such a common thing. However, when a man sees his semen checklist and no sperm is found or when a doctor tells him that no sperm is found in his semen test, this common problem becomes anything but common and the impact on a man and a family is unimaginable. Azoospermia, in general, is divided into obstructive and non-obstructive. As a male surgeon there are many ways to treat obstructive azoospermia. However, there are very limited treatment options for non-obstructive azoospermia in which the testes themselves have abnormal sperm production. Many patients have to undergo sperm donation and cuddling. This is the biggest helplessness we have as male doctors when dealing with this disease. Every time we face the surprised, confused and helpless eyes of patients, as male doctors, we really want to do something for them. With the development of reproductive medicine technology, microscopic testicular sperm retrieval (M-TESE) has emerged to gradually find sperm in the testicles of these patients, who were previously sentenced to “death penalty”, to give birth to their own healthy babies through IVF technology. Microscopic testicular sperm retrieval, so to speak, has been a boon to these patients by “creating something out of nothing. As the name implies, testicular microscopic sperm retrieval is a surgical procedure to open the testicles of patients with non-obstructive azoospermia, use a multi-million dollar surgical microscope to microscopically identify the patient’s testicular tissues, separate the tissues that may contain sperm, grind them, and then find the sperm for IVF. The Reproductive Center of the Third Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University, the largest reproductive medicine center in Guangdong Province, has over 6,000 IVF cycles per year and an incalculable number of visits. As male doctors here, we serve all infertile men, as well as men with azoospermia. Testicular microsperm extraction was even one of the first centers in Guangdong Province to perform this procedure, and has found sperm for many azoospermic patients to have healthy babies. In addition, we also carried out the first case of testicular tissue freezing after microscopic testicular sperm extraction in Guangdong Province, and recovered and thawed again to find sperm, which were injected into the egg and then fertilized and divided normally. These techniques are carried out for patients with azoospermia to be able to maintain their fertility and have a baby again after thawing, no matter what time it is. Azoospermia is not something to be afraid of, choose the right treatment and let’s make something out of nothing together.
