Proprietary Chinese medicines to improve absorption in the small intestine

The absorption function of the small intestine is attributed to the functions of the spleen and stomach in Chinese medicine. Some proprietary Chinese medicines with the effects of tonifying the spleen and stomach, regulating qi and harmonizing the stomach may improve the absorption of the small intestine, such as Strengthening the Spleen Pill, Flattening the Stomach Tablet, and Baohe Pill, etc. It is recommended to use these medicines under the guidance of a doctor.

1. Strengthening the Spleen Pill: It has the effect of strengthening the spleen and appetizing the stomach (improving appetite by strengthening the spleen), and is suitable for abdominal distension, loss of appetite and diarrhea caused by weakness of the spleen and stomach. It should not be used by people with acute enteritis and diarrhea, or dry mouth, or hot hands and feet.

2. Flat Stomach Tablet: It has the functions of drying dampness, transporting spleen, regulating qi and harmonizing stomach, and is suitable for abdominal distension, nausea and vomiting, inappetence, heaviness of limbs and drowsiness caused by dampness obstructing the spleen and stomach. It should not be used for dry mouth and desire to drink, dry stools, etc. caused by stomach yin deficiency.

3. Baohe Pill: It has the effects of eliminating food stagnation (promoting food digestion) and harmonizing the stomach, and can be used to improve stagnation of the spleen and stomach, and is suitable for stagnation of food and drink, abdominal distension, belching of putrefaction and swallowing of acid (swallowing of acid in the stomach that rushes upward to the mouth and pharynx), and lack of desire for food and drink.

The adverse reactions and contraindications of the above drugs are not clear, note that the diet should be light, avoid tobacco, alcohol, cold and greasy food; during the period of taking Pinggastric Tablets and Baohe Pills, it is not advisable to use them with tonic drugs.

For small intestine malabsorption, Chinese medicine can be used to strengthen the spleen, dispel dampness, and guide stagnation from the perspective of spleen and stomach, etc. It is recommended to ask the doctor for a clear diagnosis and then use the medicine.
