Does inflammation of the tonsils cause dizziness?

Patients with tonsillitis may experience dizziness due to systemic infection and hypoxia, as follows: First, systemic infection: after tonsillitis, a large number of bacteria or viruses enter the body, which can induce bacteraemia, sepsis and other systemic infections, inducing fever and other related manifestations in patients, which often result in clinical dizziness. Second, hypoxia: after tonsillitis, tonsils are prone to increase in size, such as tonsils with degree III enlargement, accompanied by pharyngeal edema, easily blocking the airway, leading to hypoxia, lack of oxygen, and clinical dizziness. The presence of dizziness in tonsillitis mostly indicates that the inflammatory infection of the tonsils is more serious and requires intensive anti-inflammatory infusion treatment to avoid aggravation of the condition and endangering the patient’s life. If dizziness occurs during tonsillitis, it is clinically advisable to rest and give appropriate oxygen intake and other related treatments.
