Usually, the ultrasound of the liver, gallbladder, spleen and pancreas does not require holding urine, but an empty stomach. Ultrasound of liver, gallbladder, spleen and pancreas can check whether there are any lesions in the liver, gallbladder, pancreas and spleen, such as whether there is liver abscess, liver hemangioma, liver cancer, etc., whether there are gallbladder polyps, gallbladder stones, cholecystitis, etc. in the gallbladder, whether there is pancreatitis, pancreatic tumor, etc., and whether there is splenomegaly, splenic tumor, etc. in the spleen. The main reason for fasting is that after eating, the gallbladder may be in a postprandial saturated state, and doing ultrasound at this time will not be conducive to clarifying the condition of the gallbladder, so fasting is required for hepatobiliary, pancreatic and spleen ultrasound. Usually, when doing ultrasound of the urinary system, it is required to hold urine, after holding urine, the bladder can be filled up, so that it is easy to observe whether there are lesions in the bladder, or whether there are stones and occupancies. In addition, it may be necessary to hold urine during a transabdominal gynecologic ultrasound. It is recommended to eat a light diet 3 days before the ultrasound examination of the liver, gallbladder, spleen and pancreas, avoiding foods that are too oily and stimulating, which may affect the examination results. Fasting and abstaining from drinking for 8 hours before the examination is recommended, and wearing clothing that conveniently exposes the abdomen on the day of the examination, avoiding clothing such as strappy pants and jumpsuits.
