Is a positive HPV test cervical cancer?

A positive HPV test result does not necessarily mean cervical cancer.
HPV refers to human papillomavirus, and a positive test result indicates that the patient is infected with this virus. There are many types of HPV viruses, including high-risk and low-risk types, and persistent infection with high-risk types of HPV such as HPV type 16 or HPV type 18 may cause precancerous lesions in the vagina and cervix.
When a persistent high-risk HPV infection is detected, it should be actively treated, and if necessary, colposcopy should be performed, and if necessary, cervical biopsy should be performed to make a clear diagnosis, so as to avoid delaying the condition.
In addition, HPV virus infection may also be low-risk type, for low-risk type of HPV will not cause cervical cancer, but will appear genital warts or flat warts, common warts and so on.
Although HPV is not necessarily cervical cancer, but if it is a high-risk type of HPV positive, you should pay attention to it, you should go to the hospital on a regular basis to carry out cervical TCT (cervical liquid-based cytology) and other checks or HPV vaccine, and if you find a pre-cancerous lesion of the cervix, you have to treat it as soon as possible.
