How to screen for stomach cancer?

China is second only to Japan as a region with high incidence of gastric cancer. Experts remind that high-risk people should not fear gastroscopy, and it is better to check gastroscopy no more than once every three years, so that many gastric cancer patients have already progressed to the middle stage once they are found. If you have problems such as feeling stomach discomfort or pain, loss of appetite and weight loss, it is best to check gastroscopy, which is a necessary test to confirm the diagnosis of stomach cancer. Other diagnostic modalities include imaging (such as CT, MRI, barium meal, etc.), laboratory tests, etc. However, not everyone needs to have frequent gastroscopy. Doctors reminded that, in addition to the above-mentioned symptoms of people should do gastroscopy in a timely manner, the following high-risk groups should preferably be examined once every three years: family history (including digestive tumors), chronic gastric ulcer and other diseases and combined with H. pylori infection, bad habits of smoking and drinking, poor dietary habits (such as high salt, pickled foods eaten more, long-term consumption of hot food, mold, stomach irritation The greater food), food and water sources are contaminated. Experts also remind that one out of every five gastric cancer patients is HER2-positive, which is a more dangerous condition, shorter survival period and poor prognosis. Therefore, patients diagnosed with gastric cancer should undergo HER2 testing according to the need of their condition to detect and reduce mortality in time. Currently, the main treatments for gastric cancer are surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and supportive therapy. Among them, surgery is the only means to cure gastric cancer, but 60% of patients may have recurrence and metastasis after surgery. In response to some patients’ fear of chemotherapy, experts point out that it is unnecessary and the current chemotherapy can be taken orally at home, which is relatively mild and safe.
