A small hole in the baby’s ear is a preauricular fistula. Preauricular fistulas are formed as a result of embryonic residue from the baby’s embryonic development and are a hereditary condition, most fistulas are located at the foot of the ear wheel and most people have no symptoms for life. Some people may experience itching and discharge from the skin around the fistula, which can lead to an infection of the preauricular fistula and the formation of an abscess in front of the ear, which is painful to the touch and can be volatile. The treatment is anti-inflammatory treatment with antibiotics, local abscess formation, abscess incision and drainage, daily drug changes, and preauricular fistula excision after the local infection has subsided and the condition has stabilized.
