Indications for bronchiectasis surgery

  Patients with a clear diagnosis based on history, clinical manifestations and bronchography, who are in good general condition and physical fitness, and without organic lesions of the heart, lungs and kidneys, should in principle be considered for surgical treatment.  The surgical procedure can be selected according to the following conditions: 1. unilateral lobar bronchiectomy is feasible for unilateral bronchiectasis.  2, unilateral bronchial dilatation, lesions more than one lobe, can be considered for double lung lobectomy or lung lobectomy plus lung segment.  3, one side of each lobe has bronchial dilatation, no obvious lesions on the opposite side, combined with the patient’s lung function test analysis, can be considered for unilateral total pneumonectomy.  4, bronchiectasis lesions involving bilateral lung lobes, according to the patient’s condition, bilateral lobectomy or staged lobectomy can be chosen.  5.Patients with bronchiectasis hemoptysis, if the hemoptysis does not stop despite drug treatment, emergency bronchoscopy can be performed if the bleeding is clearly from the diseased lung, and emergency lobectomy can be performed.
