What new mothers should know about newborn care

1, the newborn baby warm room temperature should be maintained at 22-24C, relative humidity of about 50%. In winter, if the room temperature is too low, the newborn’s body temperature does not rise, causing cold injury, or even life-threatening, and in summer, if the room temperature is too high, and easy to cause water loss or fever, so you should pay attention to the ambient temperature, also pay attention to the thickness of the clothing, do not wrap too tightly, so that the body temperature can be maintained between 36-37 ℃. 2, newborn feeding A normal newborn should start sucking on the mother’s nipple within half an hour after birth, not later than 2 hours after birth, because the early start of sucking can promote milk secretion; feeding can not emphasize the timing, according to the baby’s needs to feed. If for some reason breastfeeding is not possible, formula feeding can be used, breastfeeding is advocated and breastfeeding is on demand. Do not advocate adding water or sugar water, etc. 3.Newborn care Pay attention to the cleanliness of the skin, do not put the newborn into the water for bathing before the umbilical cord falls off, but after the umbilical cord falls off, you can put it into the water for bathing, keep the umbilical cord dry and clean. Take a bath every day, use less soap to prevent scratches, and do not use talcum powder. Newborn clothes should be made of soft cotton, loose and easy to put on and take off, should not be tied with straps or rubber tight, so as not to affect the development of the chest and limbs. 4, the newborn position after eating milk to pat the baby’s back, to promote its exhaust, sleep on the right side to avoid vomiting, and later to frequently change position, should not be long supine, can also be prone beneficial to the development of respiratory function. The baby’s bed should be a flat bed, available for newborns with a special pillow. When the baby is out of your sight, the side lying position is safer. 5, prevention of neonatal infection minimize unnecessary human contact with the newborn to avoid infection, the room should be clean and ventilated, not the smell of smoke or oil. If the mother or caregiver has a cold, wear a mask to avoid infection. In addition, the newborn should be vaccinated with BCG vaccine, and the first day after birth should be vaccinated with hepatitis B vaccine. 6, some common physiological phenomena of newborns (1) physiological body mass decline
Newborn baby a few days after birth due to eating less milk, excretion of meconium and urine, and evaporation of water through breathing and skin, the body mass may be a short decline, commonly known as “shrinkage”, medically called “physiological body mass decline, generally only down about 6% of the birth body mass, mostly in the 7-10 days after birth on Most of them can be restored to their birth mass within 7-10 days after birth. If there is a lot of decline or late recovery, you should consult a health care provider. (2) Physiological jaundice in newborns
About 75%-85% of newborns start to have yellow skin on the second day after birth, which gradually deepens and becomes most pronounced in about 1 week, and then slowly subsides, mostly disappearing completely within 2-3 weeks. If the jaundice appears on the first day or 3 weeks after birth and does not subside, or if it recedes and reappears, then you should go to the hospital immediately. (3) Swelling of the newborn’s breast
Newborns of both sexes can see swollen breasts on both sides 5-7 days after birth, and even a little milk secretion, which is a normal physiological phenomenon, parents do not need to worry, usually 2-3 weeks later will disappear on their own, do not need to deal with, and not to squeeze, so as not to cause breast infection. (4) Vaginal bleeding in newborns
This is a normal physiological phenomenon, there is no need to be alarmed and no need for treatment, but attention should be paid to the local cleanliness and hygiene of the perineum. (5) Newborn crying
Crying is an instinctive reaction of newborns, and is also a kind of exercise, which can promote the development of lungs, so crying of newborns is not necessarily pathological. Due to the lack of adaptation to the environment after birth, newborns do not distinguish between night and day, often sleeping peacefully during the day and crying at night, the special symptoms of night crying, commonly known as “night crying Lang”. So what to do? As long as the baby eats normal milk, body mass increase, no other medical conditions, there is no need to treat, can be appropriate during the day to wake up the child, do not hold hands, night before bedtime feeding, the environment is quiet, that is, with the growth of the newborn’s age, crying symptoms will gradually improve. Of course, if the crying persists or is accompanied by other abnormalities, the baby should be sent to the hospital immediately.
