Liver abscesses usually heal in a few days

The healing time of liver abscesses is related to the size and number of abscesses and the efficacy of treatment, which usually heals in 7-10 days. Liver abscess is a purulent lesion of the liver caused by bacteria or amoebas. Bacterial liver abscesses have an acute onset and are usually multiple, small abscesses that require clarification of the bacterial type and antibacterial treatment, which can be cured in 7-10 days, and may be cured in a slightly longer time with empirical medication before clarification of the bacteria. Amebic protozoal liver abscesses with slow onset and single, large abscesses usually require drainage followed by closure of the cavity and aggressive antiamoebic treatment, which can also cure in 7-10 days. However, some patients with untimely treatment, poor sensitivity to drug therapy or chronic diseases such as diabetes mellitus have a longer treatment course. Patients with liver abscess should go to the hepatology department of regular hospitals for examination in time to clarify what kind of pathogens before targeted treatment, otherwise it will delay the disease and prolong the treatment course.
