When there is no shunt or when the shunt is small, there are usually no obvious symptoms. When there is a significant shunt, migraine and ischemic stroke may occur.
1. Migraine is often associated with larger notches in patients with patent foramen ovale, especially in patients with migraine with aura. The prevalence of patent foramen ovale is higher in patients with migraine with aura than in patients without migraine with aura.
2. Patients with patent foramen ovale may also suffer from unexplained stroke, with typical symptoms such as hemiparesis and aphasia. The typical symptoms are hemiparesis and aphasia. In addition, there are potential symptoms such as syncope, temporary aphasia, sleep apnea, lying dyspnea, and reclining respiratory-orthostatic hypoxemia.
If the diagnosis of patent foramen ovale is confirmed, timely medical treatment should be sought to avoid delay. Take rest on weekdays and avoid strenuous exercise.
