How soon can you walk with a broken ankle?

Ankle fracture is commonly known as ankle fracture, which is only a manifestation of fracture, i.e. relatively minor fracture or fracture end is not obviously displaced, this situation usually requires external fixation in plaster, wait for the fracture bony healing before you can walk normally, the recovery period is usually 2-3 months, if there is no discomfort after the recovery period, you can walk. In clinical practice, for minor ankle fractures, i.e. bone fractures, the treatment is usually conservative, mostly with external fixation in a cast to limit ankle movement, with regular review of X-rays or CT, and with symptomatic treatment with dehydrating and swelling medication if necessary, usually 1 month after the injury, the cast can be removed and the patient can walk with partial weight bearing on crutches. Usually, patients with ankle fracture can walk normally after 3 months, but some patients may have delayed healing or non-healing of the fracture, depending on the X-ray or CT.
