Pneumothorax occurring after acupuncture is a traumatic pneumothorax. Patients usually have pneumonia in the pleural cavity due to acupuncture puncturing the lung, which requires immediate CT or X-ray examination at the hospital to clarify how much lung compression is present. If the lung compression is within 30%, it belongs to a small amount of pneumothorax, you can choose conservative treatment, as long as bed rest and oxygen, the treatment can be recovered in about a week. If the amount of pneumothorax is large, greater than 30%, and the patient has obvious symptoms of chest tightness and shortness of breath, a closed chest drainage should be done immediately, and a chest tube should be placed to drain the pneumothorax. In severe cases, if there is a combined hemothorax and a large amount of bleeding in the pleural cavity, an emergency thoracoscopy or open surgery to dissect the chest to stop the bleeding is required.
