Patients with varicocele are able to have children normally. Varicocele is a vascular disease that causes low sperm quality and causes patients to experience pain, swelling and discomfort in the affected scrotum. Because of the poor local blood return after varicocele, the local temperature of the scrotum increases, which is not conducive to sperm production and affects the quality of sperm, thus possibly affecting the patient’s reproductive function. Varicocele has about 30% chance to affect the fertility of patients. Patients who cannot have children because of varicocele can be treated by surgical methods, which can be done by high ligation of spermatic veins, along with microsurgery, which can reduce surgical side injuries and improve the success rate of surgery. After the varicose veins are cured by performing surgery, the sperm quality tends to return to normal, allowing the patient to resume reproductive function. In some severe cases of varicocele, the patient may choose to undergo in vitro fertilization if he or she is still unable to have children after surgery, which has a certain chance of success.
