Estradiol tablets are not contraceptives; they are estrogen-based medications. There are two types of contraceptive pills: first, short-acting contraceptive pills; and second, emergency contraceptive pills. Short-acting contraceptive pills contain ingredients that are estrogen and progestin, while emergency contraceptive pills contain ingredients that are large doses of progestin. Estradiol tablets are simply estrogenic drugs, which are mainly used to treat estrogen deficiency in women’s bodies. If the endometrium is examined to be thin, estrogenic drugs can be taken to promote the growth of the endometrium. If an adolescent girl develops pubertal dysmenorrhea and has unusually heavy menstrual periods, she can be treated with high doses of estrogenic drugs.
